For better or worse, Chopper (a.k.a Young City) bites his tongue for no one. Co-starring in Diddy's reality series Making the Band 2, which debuted on MTV in 2002, the New Orleans native's outspokenness earned him plenty of camera time and a spot as one of the six artists chosen out of 40,000 contestants to form Da Band. Comprised of Chopper, Babs, Ness, Dylan, Freddy P and Sarah Stokes, the group released their first and only disc, Too Hot for T.V., on Bad Boy Records in 2003.

Former Bad Boy artist Chopper inks deal with Cash Money Records

New Orleans rapper Chopper has inked a deal with Cash Money/Universal Records, as a result of his discontent at Bad Boy Records.

After a conversation with Cash Money’s Bryan “Baby” Williams, Chopper, who also goes by the name of Young City, decided to make the career-altering switch.

Chopper Young City sign to Cash Money Records

Kevin “Chopper” Barnes of MTV’s “Making The Band” is set to face trial December 4th on multiple counts of robbery, assault and theft charges.

Barnes, 21, was pulled over the July 31st weekend in Atlanta this year for speeding. When ticketed, police found he had prior charges pending, and detained him for the events on September 29, 2001 where the rapper allegedly robbed two men at gunpoint.

Young City arrested for armed robbery

Young City, also known as Choppa from MTV's Making The Band 2, has been arrested and detained on an outstanding warrant for armed robbery. Choppa, whose real name is Kevin Barnes, was stopped for speeding in a Gwinnett County suburb of Atlanta last month (July 31) and was arrested when police discovered the unresolved warrant stemming from an alleged incident in Baltimore.
