Black Rob

Black Rob

Black Rob has been part of the Bad Boy label since 1997 and has been one of the most loyal family members despite having to sit in the wings while The Lox, Ma$e and Biggies careers all excelled.

He’s also has had a number of run-ins with the law having being in prison a number of times and troubles in June 2001 with weapon charges adding to his troubled career.

His most important contribution to date was in 2000 with the release of his debut album as he put Bad Boy on his back and took them back up to the top with the release of his single ‘Whoa!!’ gaining Bad Boy massive street credibility.

His album is full of grimey street tales from his ghetto in Harlem and he portrays a real struggle in life and his lyrics are easily identifiable with. His husky voice only adds to these street tales and we see him spit about his difficult childhood in the title track ‘Life story’.

It wasn’t until late 2004 that new Black Rob material appeared, most premiered on mixtapes by DJ Kay Slay. In 2005 he released his sophomore album The Black Rob Report that was instant classic.
