Bad Boy buys into Block Entertainment

Actually inked on December 10th, 2005, a contractual deal will see Bad Boy Entertainment releasing new Block Entertainment albums from rap newcomer Yung Joc, as well as Boyz N Da Hood members Jody Breeze and Big Gee.

Owned & operated by Russell “Block” Spencer, Block Enterprises began in 2000 with Spencer working tirelessly at building a strong and solid career for himself. Block collaborated with Atlanta producer Jazze Pha in the creation process of Sho' Nuff Records, home to R&B sensation, Ciara. He also spent time overseeing the careers and releases of Eightball & MJG, Crime Boss and Tela as President of Suave House Records, in addition to running Noontime Records.

Block has a flawless and impeccable record of success within the music industry and his coming work with Bad Boy Enterprises will further validify that statement. Ultimately, the successes of hip-hop power group Boyz N Da Hood helped introduce Block Entertainment to the mainstream community while catapulting the career of the rapper Young Jeezy. While Jeezy's Thug Motivation: 101 was released via Def Jam, Jeezy already has a strong track record with Diddy through Boyz N Da Hood.

Diddy looked no further than Block as his right hand below the Mason-Dixon. “When Block and I first met,” Diddy remembers, “I realized he had an ear for the streets of the South. Block Ent. brought us his first group, Boyz N D Hood, and showed his knowledge of the sound of Atlanta and the South.”

As Bad Boy South continues to nourish their alliances with Block Entertainment, fans can expect new releases from Boyz N Da Hood as well as solo albums from rappers Yung Joc, Big Gee, Jody Breeze, Miami's Rick Ross, and rock n' soul artist Jill Rock Jones.

The first off the block is solo rapper Yung Joc, whose song “It's Goin Down,” appears on virtually every southern hip-hop mixtape, has remained on both V103's and Hot 107.9's nightly top-chart shows, and has northern industry execs contributing to the big buzz. His “Gangsta Grillz” mixtape is set for a March release; his first album New Joc City is set for a summer debut.
