Diddy's 'Press Play' is sample-free

Sean Combs hasn’t changed his name since settling on Diddy, but he has apparently changed his music.

“Press Play,” out today, is said to be a rhythm and blues record in the style of a John Legend or Alicia Keys. Diddy sings for the first time and, more significantly, didn’t use samples from established hits. “Press Play” is all original music, with tracks co-produced and co-written by the likes of Kanye West, Pharrell and Timbaland.

The guest list of performers is, of course, Diddyesque in scale and includes C-Lo, Jamie Foxx, Christina Aguilera, Mary J. Blige and Brandy.
